If you are having problems getting the game to install or the game is asking for a CD5 or a CD0, you may want to try some of the following suggestions.
When changing CDs during the installation, let the drive spin-up and then stop. Then click OK and see if the installer recognizes the disc change. Do this for all the CDs that are requested.
Try checking for a firmware/BIOS update for your CD or DVD drive. We have had several reports of sucessfull installs of the game once a firmware update was applied. You will have to check with your CD/DVD drive manufacturer for this kind of update.
If for whatever reason you are unable to do a Recommended or Full install, but you can do a Minimum install, please read How to "fake" a larger install from a Minimum.
If you have multiple CD/DVD drives, only install from one and do not try to use all of your drives. For some reason, this is confusing InstallShield.
If you cannot do any install without getting some sort of error or crash and you have about 5 Gig of free hard drive space, you can try to copy all 4 CDs to your hard drive, then run the install from there. Please note, you must copy all 4 CDs to the same directory for the install to run. If you get prompted for the next CD, then you have not copied the files over properly, or you have missed some.
Try turning off DMA for your CD/DVD drive. For some people, this has allowed them to install. You can find this checkbox by going to your Control Panel, then to System, then to the Device Manager tab. Find your CD/DVD drive and bring up its Properties, then go to the Settings tab.
Try turning off your CD/DVD read-ahead. For some people, this has allowed them to install. You can find this slider by going to your Control Panel, then to System, then to the Performance
I got SoldierOfFortune2.bin both disc 1 & 2 in a bin format. I installed disc1 by mountin it & midway it ask me to Insert disc2, which i have already mounted it in another virtual drive. How to I install the game completely without the dang thing asking me to insert?

Disc 5 Fix:
If you are trying to install Full or Recommended and are receiving a message asking for Disc 5, mount all 4 discs and copy their contents to 1 location on your hard drive then run the setup.exe in there.
This will fix the message asking for Disc 5 and may possibly do a complete install.
More than likely however; this will allow you to install up to 95% and then it asks you for Disc 1, but no matter where you mount/unmount CD_1.iso it never recognizes it. This leads us to solution #2
95% Disc 1 Fix:
Burn your CD_1.ISO file to a CD and when it asks for the disc simply direct it to your CD-Rom drive.
After that you should be set. Make sure you install the Patch (BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe) before running the crack.

"Alright" i thought, and renamed the DT drive as well as my hardware one, swapping the letters. Now the game starts without any trouble.. But!
It appears some certain occurences cause the game to crash horribly. So far they've been:
When creating a "Wild Mage" it crashes when i get to the ability section of the creation
When killing the lightning imp (forgot the name) in the beginning of the game
When killing the goblin archers (regular goblins are no problem)
I've tried altering the settings a lot back and forth, but i'm really not sure what i'm looking for. Any idea what might be wrong?
Backup the file as Baldur.ini then open it up and under the Program Options heading type Debug Mode=1
Then when you are playing the game,
hit Crtl + Space Bar to bring up the console.
From there you can enter any of the cheats:
