Hi guys,

I'm new to burning a cd/dvd image and I just bought my first cd/dvd burner. I used alcohol 120% to burn the image on a dvd. It burned all of the Vista files/folders onto the dvd, but when I reboot my system it simply boots back into XP. Although I got a message saying something like, "To boot from the cd/dvd press any key.", but no Windows Vista installation shows up. I can only start the Vista setup within XP instead of booting for a clean install. :(

I'm not sure if the burning speed of 4x, (that's the lowest that Alcohol 120% will burn it for me) has anything to with the problem, or maybe it's the DVD+RW disk that I used because that's all I currenly have.

Can you experts please tell me where I went wrong? Thank you...

If this is a bootable Vista version then why does it not install from my systems boot? I followed the instructions to burn the image onto a dvd (but I used a dvd+rw). I did not burn it as a bootable dvd, but just as a regular image burn per the instructions? Sorry, I'm new to this and the burning instructions seemed vague to me.

Any help to clear this all up would truly be appreciated...

OK. I sorted the problem.
After re-downloading from Mininova, it worked!!.

The problem was that I download the same file from another site that only completed 75% of the file even though it verified at 100%. therefore the file was incomplete.
After running the Mininova torrent over the top of the other torrent file, it filled in the missing data to complete the functioning ISO.'

this is a 32 bit version, right? so if I have a core 2 for example i can´t work on 64bit wich will be more common in the future

right for the last bloody time use yer eyes here people it helps. this is a 32 BIT PROG. . the only way you'll get 64 bit is to install the relevant hardware ie a new mother board etc. i would recommend running windows vista adviser that u can get from the Microsoft site or probably over here. this will tell u if any progs or hardware u have will have issues with vista. its not hard people come on! as for your question mig149 don't worry yer ****

and yes core 2 duo is a 64 bit chip but all 32 bit progs will run on it

i know that 32 bit progs work on 64, but 64 bit is better than 32. My hardware fully supports 64bit and this version of vista isn't 64bit.
I´ve not found a good torrent with x64. If i install this 32 bit version can i upgrade later to a 64bit version?

the iso file is 2.5 Gig...how are you expected to burn such a huge file onto a CD O_o

then ,, you need a DVD player to do the installation

not installed this vista on my own pc but did for a friend it works fine. if you install this 32bit and u get a 64bit version it will be no probs to upgrade as long as your defo 64bit compatible. and yes mig 64bit is twice as good as 32 :-)

After I installed this it cleaned my house, did my laundry and even put gas in my car! Thanks Vista, you make my life so much easier!

I've a month with this version and is running fine with the time stopper, but there's something odd, when i go to properties on my computer i says 25 days trial at the bottom of the window and at first it was 27 days trial so think that its like counting but at a very slow rate can anybody tell why this is happening??

Other thing is that some times the icons on the folders appear on details and even though i change them to large icons they appear once again as details.

Please somebody let me know why this vista version does all this things.

You can enter the Vista Ultimate Key which you can find on the other post on this page...you can also install without the key (the clony crack will fix it so i say don't bother with the key). Select Windows Vista Ultimate while installing without the key...

i am using it right now and must say that its brilliant...this is a 32 bit verison of vista...and your disk will be formatted to NTFS...

3. go to command prompt (press start, run, and type cmd in run box)

4. placed the three downloaded files in a folder c:\vistadvd and then extracted the file x13-49120 which created a new folder called vista.
then your command line to build your original vistadvd will be

oscdimg -bc:\vistadvd\vista\boot\etfsboot.com -h -u2 -m -lvista_en_dvd c:\vistadvd\vista c:\vistadvd.iso

5. burn iso image file to your dvd using nero

Im new to Torrentz, but thought Id give this one a try as my Vista RC2 version times out on 31st May. So yeh Im using Shareaza to download the torrent however its just going so slow (between 400b/s to 7kb/s mainly, sometimes a little higher but doesnt get anywhere past 15kb/s

Im on a 1.5mb/s connection and everything else I download through Shareaza seems to run fine.

Im guessing its got something to do with Port settings or something, which I dont know alot about. But I followed the Shareaza instructions to setting up the right port and the same settings in my DLink router under Virtual Server. I set the ports to 6346 and both TCP and UDP which it said and still no difference.

Can someone help me out here coz at the rate it is going, its not gonna finish. Its only at 50% now and its been going on and off for 5 days!

This torrent works like a charm. It's the 32 Bit version of the Vista Installation DVD (will also run on 64 Bit machines). Use a decent torrent programme like BitComet version 0.70 (if you've set up your port-forwarding properly & have a decent ADSL connexion it should complete within a day or so). For an ISO burner which is simple and fast and free (and which actually works and doesn't waste discs) download & install Active@ ISO Burner and insert a blank DVDr in your drive. The burner command will be accessible in the context menu when you right-click on the ISO icon. Active@'s default speed will be 2x - stay with that - it won't take long. Leave the disc in the drive and power down your machine. Start up your machine and press a key at the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt and let it install - it is best to let the OS install on a blank drive or to wipe your existing OS so back-up anything you need. Choose Vista Ultimate Edition when prompted for a choice. DO NOT TYPE IN A SERIAL # WHEN IT ASKS FOR ONE. When the OS is installed install and run Clony's 1-Click Vista Activator and follow the prompts and you're done. You will be able to visit the Microsoft Update Site & update your shiny new OS as normal. BitComet, Active@ ISO Burner, & Clony's 1-Click Vista Activator are all easily available (& free) using Google. Do not use the timestopper or any other method.

dear noluck i got the solution for yr problem.even i also faced the same problem when i put the dvd disc in the rom it goes into a restart loop. so do the following steps
1.right click the my computer icon
2 go to properties
3.go to advanced
4 go to startup and recovery tab
5 uncheck the "automatically restart tab"
and click ok .ok ok ok.


put yr disc and it wont restart anymore.

Arjun bhaiya dude there are so many seeds and leachers. On this page click that meganova.org or other torrent link and it will take you to the torrent download link. Now download that torrent file and use uTorrent to open that torrent file and start downloading that ISO file. That's it! Now burn that ISO file to a DVD. If your connection is fast, you should be able to download it in a single day.

Could someone tell me if this works on a virtual machine thingy...i.e Parallels Workstation?
I am asking as I only have a 256mb RAM, so I already run other OSes on the virtual system. Feedback please....im hoping it does work

Works great but you must have an up to date PC for Vista and know what you are doing !!!!!! Driver updates etc are not for the wallys or fainthearted. If you have a problem then get an expert and be prepared to pay.

4.You don't need a cd key, that's the fun part. You get to choose which version of vista you want.
5. What I did was I downloaded a different torrent but only downloaded the crack.
