I have the same problem as DrSquid. The install stops at 2% an does nothing after that. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hendre, if you leave the extraction program open it will show progress. It takes a long time, about an hour for me. But it does extract all the way. Cheers.

The hot fixes fixed the crashing, but if I'm not mistaken it took almost all of the voice overs out... Which takes a lot from the game. Meh...

Yeah the Hotfixes reduces some of the crashing, but nixes the character voices. I think a lot of the issues people have been encountering can be attributed to Bethesda. They need to patch this game, fast.

Yeah, until he encounters a bug or glitch. Read the reviews on metacritic for the pc version. I've pla **** the last couple Besthesda games on pc, and they've always been buggy. I'm not out to argue, just putting it out there.

Also, to add to my previous point, if you're so sure the game is bug free, why don't you stop by the official Besthesda/Fallout 3 forums and take a look at some of the threads?

Most games these days are released with some mind staggeringly obvious bugs in them, I still shudder at Gothic 3 what a pile of trash that was and such a poor state it was released in also.

Its criminal developers and publishers are allowed to get away with this, car companies wouldnt be allowed to sell cars with only half an engine, with the understanding that the customer would recieve the rest in patches later on.

this does not work for me. it gets to 2% installed and then crashes after 20 minutes. ive used 7zip and winrar to extract.

Does this game work with xbox live? or does it ask for a serial key if i install xbox live as well?

When i try to instal game it says i need to delete the game, extract the archieve and run again.
The actual extracting goes well and the extracting with the setup goes well also but when it suppose to do the actual installing i get that message.

Hi guys, I'm having the same problem as the guy above me.

I tried to run the setup.bat but I had to abort it while it was busy.
When I try to run it again, it says i need to delete, extract and run.
I already deleted the fallout 3 folder in which the setup file was etc. tried to extract the original file again. It still wont do it. How do I fix it people?

Please someone answer my question i have a windows XP Professional SP3. I extracted the RAR and make the folders and i run the .bat and wait for the instalation but when its almost 50% the setup fail!

Look aliencantfarm i didnt do your steps because when I extracted there was already a folder with the right files. So i just clicked on the .bat and waited and when is 50% it fail!

I fixed my problem by messing with the bat file and trying my ass off. It still crashes every twenty minutes but it's definetely worth it.

It all works, but it's a bit of hassle. I'm running XP and had to do this:

First insall the Games for Windows Live and the .NET Framework.
Then go through what Aliencantfarm said, making the directories and moving the files THEN running the setup.bat - afterwards I had the same problem with the d3dx9_38.dll file issue.
I got this fixed by running a file included in the Skullptura install - dxwebsetup.exe (re-installs/updated direct-x).
Still having issues with crashes, but havent loaded any of the fixes yet, gonna try that later today.

For Dyablo you are to install games for windows live. The URL for it has been provided in the readme file. For others who are facing problems at different stage - 1. Installation takes much time so have patience. Don't panic if the progress bar is stuck at 2%. Give it time and even the bar would jump to 14-15%. 2. Use final fix of Skullptura after installation of the game. This takes more than an hour so have more patience which is a vertue. In my case it took almost 90 minutes. 3. Vista user like me may still get occassional crash while ending the game. This kind of crash in Vista is reported in the game forum for genuineware also. So we are helpless. In my case I am playing the game very smoothly. My hardware is AsusP5N32ESLI,4GB RAM,MSI8800GTS512x2 in SLI and I use Vista 32 Ultimate.

For thos of you stopping at 2% you just have to wait. Its not frozen, you can see by looking at your HDD light for activity. Youll probably hear your hard drive at work as well. Just be patient and wait like 30 min or so. It will eventually go to 17% then for a while not move then go to 45% and do the same....

anybody else having trouble getting this to run at all? went through the whole process, didn't get an icon to install on desktop, but everything else seems to be in place. game won't run at all though. ideas?

Just some issues if anybody experiments the same, please lets share it so we can fix it.

1.Freezes starting a new game

3.Character, Creature ingame movement is not normal, looks like they are all rigid most of the time or dont sit and stand up well, or simply keep shooting at the corpses, etc...

Hey Guys, I have some problem Instaling. (NOT EXTRACTING)

When I go to open "FalloutLauncher", and I select "install", it says

"Fallout 3 does not appear to be installed and the installer could not be found. Try exploring your DVD-ROM drive and selecting setup.exe to install the game."

In the READ_ME it says that on Vista (which I have) I have to disable "UAC".
Can someone tell what it is and how to disable it?

I Got It Too Work!

What I did was to go way back to step 1 (back to the unziping of the first thing) PS: The folder you unzip is the folder that the game is installed in.

-I extracted the main compression with winRAR.

-I disabled UAC

-I ran the setup.bat as ADMINISTRATOR (very important)

-Waited while leaving the computer alone (was close by so I could keep an eye on it)

-near the end, (in the 90%)it INSTALLS the game!

It should work, keep me posted so I can try to help if it doesn't, I should be cheeking this daily for a month.

I got a Xlive.dll problem when launching the Fallout3.exe I had to go instal it by going too:

fix doesnt works well. still crashes after loading game when you saved it in anywhere on wasteland. or when i exit from megaton to wasteland it crashes. i debugged it and see my self why it is crashing. its because missing or damaged files for oggvorbis. crash really occurs because these ogg files. SO DONT BLAME THE GAMEMAKERS FOR THIS RIP CRASHES.then i downloaded "reloaded" release and finished game without any crash. with skulptura rip, crash in every 5 minutes. in "reloaded" release there is no corrupted files and no waiting 2129402384 hours for fixing these corrupted files for nothing to get fixed is not required. so that fix is not working it STILL CRASHES LIKE **** . also you can see my reply on finalfix torrent.

HEARD OF AN ISO???

For me Finalfix worked like charm. Game rarely crashes now. For the last ten sittings there was no crash at all. I have completed several missions and almost 70% is over. I am now at "Waters for life" main mission and "Nuka-Cola challenge" side mission. I got a house at Megaton after diffusing the nuke which I decorated with love machine theme from "Moira".

I have only regret in this fine game that I can not do the things with ladies. Are you sure that there is no "hot cofee" or that kind of mod like in GTA San Andreas in this game ?

I was not talking about animated **** . I am also not interested in hentai etc. I was talking about sex. Sex is not **** . One is biological need another is commercial. In a computer game I look for Role Playing elements. I look for real life environment. I have pla **** few games (If I remember correctly it was a "Gothic" series or was it "Fable the lost Chapter") where sex has been used sparingly (in optional conditions like in a brothel) as an element of role play and in such games there is a fulfilling experience. Even in "Mass Effect" there is such sex-perience. In "Fallout3" I was surprised that while renting a room at Megaton the local w **** came to the room as a freebie and slept in the same bed but not a single CGI was cast. Although I agree that "hot cofee" was more like a **** because of the active parti **** tion and so are the car sex in other GTA games.

Wow you guys... someone does something like this for all of you and you just bash his work. You're incredibly ungrateful! I think we should all appreciate the fact that A) he takes his time to do this B) the fact that hes uses batch files the oldschool way instead of using ez-installers and C) that he still provides despite the fact that you are some ungrateful n00bs! I have completed this game without any further issues. I did not like the abrupt ending. Unlike Oblivion, after completion of main missions, one can not continue with side missions or explore wasteland. Luckily I also completed all most all side missions. I could not collect 30 Nuka Cola Quantum.

hey read all the comments but still i havent got the exact method to install this game...same old error somewhat like setup failed delete and re extract the game....i used that .reg file,deleted the game extracted the game ,ran the setup.bat about 500 times yet same result....someone please give "the exact technique" or no-one bothers about this problem

1. Ensure that the torrent is done 100%. Before Utorrent I used to use Azureus which sometimes used to show 100% completion wrongly.
2. Use winrar to extract the archive at the same location where the archieve is. This solves extraction problem.
3. Copy/cut the extracted folder to where you would like to install. Use short path as suggested in the readme. You can install at Program Files.
4. For Vista close UAC. Restart the P.C. (Although I also installed by keeping UAC). Use the Setup.bat file. Give it time. Have patience which is a virtue. Don't multitask until finished.
5. Installation time and game play will depend on how powerful is your system.

Well I'm disappointed. When I click play it goes black then closed the program and says Fallout3 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Everything installed:

I have the extracted content of the game..my problem is only with the setup.bat...if what u mean by the shorter path ,is directly pasting the content folder in hard drive partation without any deeper subfolders?i have tried that but no good came out of that...i wud look at the suggestion regarding the multitasking..does that mean i should disable the anti-virus(kaspersky 7 in my case)???

Sorry for the late reply. I did not check the post for the last few days. Your system is high enough for multitasking. Never disable your antivirus. I could dig a little by googling and found that the same type of error many people posted at piratebay for the multirip of "Legendary" . Google with "LimitDecompMem=900" and you will get the posts. It appears that folks with XP SP3 are most affected. Some of them claimed success by modifying the setup.bat file adding few commands. I am not the techie type and I am afraid I am unable to explain further.
I keep my limited funds for few retail games that I buy when things go wrong. But, never any Skullptura rip troubled me.

ive unzipped all the files and followed all the directions above but when the fallout 3 screen comes up and i click play game it says failed to initialize renderer, hardware t&l required but not supported by adapter. what am i doing wrong?

But please take note, fallout3 for the PC so far is very unstable, a lot of systems have a problems, many to do with sound execution, texture generation and just practical engine instability or incompatibility.

Really, Fallout3 so far is unstable, and may crash and lockup/freeze very often.
If you are willing to risk this, save often, and run the game windowed
I myself cannot play the game without crashing at several points (Usually upon sounds activating)
Digressing that.
Cures for the problems are, ineffective (on my end), waiting for Bethesda to unleash an official patch (larger than the current one, date, currently 20/12/08))
There is a patch specifically for this release which will patch pretty much the same way as this release extracts itself, it may work on some systems and fix any problems, it did not for me.
There is also some 'plaster' like cures for the sound problems, but they have not worked for me either.

its proberly great, as im used to with skull. but I have a problem here. ive installed and so on, but when i want to play it say he cant find xlive.dll and that i can help it by reinstalling fallout. ive done so but still, im not playing. dose sombody know a salution?

Okay this rip sucks ... most sucked in skullptura rips. You need to restart your computer to install it for window vista 32 bit or your files will become corrupted .

The rip itself is crashed missing Fallout3 files and .dll , i think the author did not rip 100% complete , what he did is only 95% ripped. He did not rip the whole thing thats why we are crashing .

The game works fine for me until i went to the saloon to talk with the guy about the characters dad. Than it will crash when approach to him

Its been proved that this rip doesn't contain full complete files compared to a retail fallout 3.

@ pieloi ... you lied to us about the system performance... My friend lent me his retail FALLOUT3 and i installed it to my another computer and it worked 100% .. NO crashes in 2 hours of game play ..

Ok just finished playing this for the past hour and it works fine, i also use XP. Ok i took me an hour to extract the game so if it hangs leave it. Also i had a problem with the d3dx_38.dll, it's simple it's Direct X that is included with the .rar file just isntall that sorts out all problems.

Also make sure you all READ the "READ ME" file FFS, it's so easy, also if any one is having problems with loading the game try lowering the settings in options or even try windowing the game, as this resolved a few of my problems. ^_^

ok, so here is my straight up review. i did (NOT) get it to work. it always crashed on start up. i've tried disabling the live and getting a new .dll... nothing. i was not able to try the hotfix because i deleted the files before i descovered there was a program to (in theory) fix it. even then, all the reviews for the hotfix said it still would crash. that was my situation, yours may be different. and my computer is fully capable of running a program such as this.

Amazing what you have done here your my hero!

Ok everyone. im pretty good with software and hardware.
Im in the process of installing this now and I have decided to try the intallation a few ways to see all the error etc your all talking about.

I have never used xlive so for the people with the xlive error, as mentioned above. go to (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d6a69b9f-2aef-4125-b162-edf0ae922caf&DisplayLang=en) download, save and install it.

I prefer to install the normal usual way. by clicking on the exe. Skullptra has created an automation for all the not so smart people out there to make life a little easier on you.

SO for the "stuck on 2% issue your all going on about" i have tried this way and to put it simply.
There is a refresh built into the extract that refreshes the status at the end of ever extract.
Depending on your computer this could be in 1 min and for others 10 mins. What you need to do here is. Click extract. Go to bed and give it a few hours to complete. It does work. I was stuck on 2% for nearly 45 mins.

I have just installed xlive and will update you on how this goes when done

Right so, got xlive installed. ran the game, got the video intro
game crashed
that was my bad as i was messing around with xlive.dll
deleted my verson of the file and reinstalled xlive again and did not mess with it this time
Game runs like a dream.

so the end result here is if the game does not work for you. its because your computer or you are doing something wrong.

Notes: If your stuck on 2% its not really stuck, just give it time. Just run setup.bat and go to sleep or something. Update your graphics card it might help. If you have ffdshow this might fix the problem(s).

You can disable ffdshow only for Fallout.
1. Start ffdshow (K-Lite, Configuration, ffdshow)
2. go to "Directshow control" (second on the list)
3. on the right side is "Don't use ffdshow in", check it (probably is allready)
4. go to edit, there you will see list of programs that already block ffsdhow
5. Go to Add and browse fallout exe.

BTW, this is my second time installing Fallout 3...never encountered so many issues and download/installation time is VERY long (IMO). The first download was Fallout 3 RELOADED. Which BTW extracted and installed and ran perfectly fine and was all under an hour (no need for fixes or anything besides the usual direct x and xlive). More like couple secs ^_^ Shortcuts arnt always the best route to take, this shortcut being smaller file size. Take the long route and do it right. Well its up to you to decide.

Couple hours to download + hour(s) to install + hour(s) to fix. Totally not worth the download. With that much time you would have already downloaded Fallout 3 Reloaded and been playin or with some other version. BTW even after all that the game sometimes still crashes. 4/10 for this torrent.

If you get the xlive.dll error this is what you have to do :

download the fix from hXXp://www.megaupload.com/?d=T6SHFV13

it should do the trick.

extract (unrar) the files into the folder where you have the game and it should say, do you want to overwrite the Data file, (basically, you are over writing the "Data" file and the run the file called "start_ffix.bat".

this might take up to or even over an hour. I am doing it as i am writhing this very answer so i hope it does work, everyone else i found in a forum said it works so it should.

If you are on vista, make sure the User Account Control (UAC) is turned off. after installing the fix, you can turn the UAC back on and then play this amazing game.

( I Just deleted the fallout 3 folder in my games )

I have XP, I downloaded it and just made with the readme.
Then i tried to launch, it said something about missed .dll

I launched the game, works great! 2h pla **** 0 Crash.
So try this way before u patch any games.

the crashed could be due to ur computers possible lack of ram cause that kept happening to me whe i tried running elder scrolls IV : Oblivion on my desktop which only had 564mp of ram u need atleast 1g to run game and 2+ to run it smoothly
