I installed it already, but whenever I go to start Halo, I get this message "Please insert the Correct Halo CD-Rom CD, Select OK and restart the application"
Then Halo just closes.

this game installed perfectly and runs perfectly on single player.
I go to multiplayer and it says install update. So i click ok. Then once its done it says insert the CD thing. I remount it on DAEMON tools thing and it still gives the same error. Any help would be appriecated.

never mind. all you gotta do, if you have this problem is...
Once the little popup thing comes up that says Play halo, or unistall and stuff like that, click reinstall. Then you should be able to start up the game and play online no problem.
It worked for me yeah.

Unpack the iso with alcohol 120% and put it in a CD
install it, search for a CD key and then play even without a cd
WORKED for me.
You may have problems with vista but it is worth a shot

To get around the CD insertion, search "Halo no cd" on google and replace the halo exe with the no cd exe. It won't work on multiplayer though.

1. Get the torrent.

2. Download the torrent.
Use whatever client you wish.

3. Mount the iso. Use Daemon Tools, Alcohol sucks anus.
Pay version:

Free version:
Google daemon tools, and install it along with their tossing shareware advertising spyware crap.

4. Install it. Use any of these cd-keys:

4a (Optional). If you want to save diskspace, delete the Halo ISO you downloaded, and get the mini-image off this page:
Halo: Combat Evolved No-CD Patches & Game Fixes- GameBurnWorld
That will allow you to run the game, but will not let you install it off that disc. Use it if you want to save about 600megs of space.

5. Run the game. Go to internet game. Click join game. Let it update. After it updates, try again. Make sure that you can get to the internet list (Don't bother joining a game, it will say CD-key invalid.)

6. Get the dedicated server patch:
Patches and Fixes: Halo PC Dedicated Server 1.07 Update - Demo Movie Patch Download Section - Gamers **** .com
I know it says upgrade. It works. I use it. So get over it. xD Extract it, and select haloded.exe (You may not see the exe bit.)

7. Copy it to your halo directory, (Usually C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Combat Evolved
Or just Halo. I can't remember.

8. Overwrite any existing files, and run the haloded.exe file. Ignore any warnings that says SVefault or some crap. Everyone gets it.

9. Run Halo, and play online.

10. SOME servers will say older version, some will say invalid cd-key, but 80% will not. Have fun with your free copy of Halo. If it says invalid cd-key over and over, which happens sometimes, just re-run Haloded.exe, restart Halo, create a game, exit, and try again.

Do what as i say in the above comment.

Jeeez this torrent is fast :-) not less then 170 kb/s ( which is a huge speed at 1.5 MB Broadband ) Halo is a great game, maybe even an epic one:D

can anyone tell me why when i get to the multiplayer online like "MENU" it shows no games, i know you need to click refresh and all of that but i do and it says cannot contact master sevrer, what is up with that?

My advice: Don't bother googling Daemon Tools. I tried it and it didn't work on my machine. Even if you get it working, it is NOT freeware. (It mounted the ISO as a drive, but Windows would not recognize it -I have WIN XP-home with SP2.)

SOLUTION: I couldn't believe it, but Microsoft actually gives a FREE program that will mount an .ISO as a CD drive. You could to Microsoft and search - go thru page after page...? Nope, just go to the following link and you get a very small program that will mount an ISO as any drive letter you want that is not being used.
[and will mount a bunch of different ones at a time as long as you have unused drive letters.]

Just run it and follow their instructions. Suddenly “My Computer” shows you have a new CD Drive with a "Halo CD” mounted in it. (The .iso is a copy of a real Halo CD.)

You can click on that drive letter in My Computer and open it like any real CD, look at the files -find the Crack directory - et cetera.

The only snag is the Halo 1.07 upgrade (the one you get when you run the game and upgrade) doesn't recognize the Halo ISO as a valid drive, so you have to use the 'cracked' halo.exe file instead, even if you still have halo mounted as a drive.

Just copy that over the Halo.exe in your installed Halo game and run it. What you end up with is an earlier version of Halo that the servers think is 1.07 It will work fine. It worked for me and I am female and blonde... So there!

Oh, and I don't know what that stuff was above about running the Halo Server program, to make Halo work, but maybe it is another way to make the game work. Seems like an unnecessary step to me, cause the other works without all that, but maybe he had to do it for whatever WINDOWS version he is using?

I play under Estelle, which is my real name. (I really HATE those people who play using a name with a bunch of weird letters, like they are ashamed to let people know who they are.)

You know what I mean? They use names like "asdfg" or "23454xyz" or even weird 'xxx' stuff that makes them sound like ten year olds. PLEASE don't do that...
Think up something like "killer" or "grenades-R-us" or anything, but not the weird names, ok?

if i launch halo on my desktop it say's :cannot allocate required memory. Some other application has loaded where Halo needs to be located.
