plz guys need help.i bought a new laptop yestarday.i've started dloading vista 30% dloaded.i have a system recovery drive as u all know laptopshav it.if i need to install vista will even my system recovery drive get cleand.wat shod i do to just shift to vista and not lose any of my media center files .plzzzzzzzzzzz .and if i create a backup disc of my laptop for using it after cleaning xp media center and installing vista,will the disc let me allow to transfer only my files and data or will it compell me to restore my old operating system.plz help needed seriously

Yes it works perfect, it is Ultimate Edition and it is the Final Retail, I am using it right now, media center works perfectly and I just downloaded both Ultimate Extras out atm.

PS: Yes it does have WMP 11 and aero, all Windows Vista's have except home basic.

The guy at torrentspy announced it, he said he couldn't be botherd to rename it, I installed Ultimate from it but you should be able to install any 32bit Vista from it. The torrent from torrentspy has been removed because MS caught on.

It is all editions of 32bit in other words. :D Just choose the one you want.

Since they removed it from torrentspy because MS complained it must also mean that this is the true final retail because MS would not demand they remove it, if it was just an average RTM. So download and seed with confidence =D

You do not activate Windows with the timer stopper crack, you just freeze the trial timers so Vista is running in a trial forever thus making it able to download all updates and Ultimate Extras without it going through a WGA or SPP as it is now known. The timer stopper crack is the best way to take as MS cannot find a way to stop it unlike all other cracks the Timer stopper crack also uses your computers BIOS and MS cannot control that.

Well it takes about 500MB on my system when everything of Vista is running at full, I have 2GB of RAM so I never get sluggish on it. :D

Vista runs way better than XP, well for me anyway, Vista seems to be the most stable and fastest OS I have ever had.

Burn it to a DVD Using Alcohol 120% there should be a trial of it on their site, as for how to burn it, go and read some tuts, it is pretty easy :)

Older versions of Vista were memory suckers but the final release just uses a tad more than XP.

It is up to you but from what I have heard, Vista is glitchy if upgraded and no many people can use it because it messes something up anyway. You can't do the timer stopper on upgraded XP either.

once everything is backed, do the clean install and then run the vista migration wizard inside Vista...its actually on the vista disc, under support\migwiz\migsetup.exe

With 512 MB of ram I do not know, Ultimate alone uses about 500MB and that is when it is not doing anything. You may be able to get away with Home premium though.

No you can't use daemon tools to install it. Nor can you put it on a CD. You can't just install an OS from Windows.

Unless you're dual booting, you'll need to backup everything. Installing a new OS eliminate your old one (unless of course you're using another HD or partition and dual booting).

Back it up by putting it on a CD, another partition that you won't be formatting, or put it on a flash drive. However you prefer.

3. boot up from Vista Disk and then install VISTA ULTIMATE!!!

4. DO NOT enter a serial and just carry on.

5. let Vista install.

6. When you get onto the desktop for the first time (STILL NO INTERNET CONNECTION!!!)

7. run your Timer stopper and click test and then install ( most timer stopper cracks have them commands.)

8. Restart Computer go into Vista and change the DATE AND TIME IN VISTA to the current date and time.

9. Restart AGAIN and plug in the internet again.

10. Vista should now be in a loop and will do everything you tell if for the rest of its life XD.

lt200420: I set mine to that, not sure if it mattered at all. I set my BIOS to 2079 (latest it would allow) and then went about the install/steps listed on that site. After applying the crack, i just set it back. Entered into the cmd prompt the command line they give to test, and everything looks good. Working great so far. So to answer your question, i don't know lol. I would say set it, can't hurt i suppose. You can test it without and see if it works. GL.

Rubber, the optical drive, can erase it faster than any floppy, **** you could even mount a live cd to ram, and it would blow any hard drive away. because ram always is faster than the drive speed, then you can get into network clustering etc.. but I Think he was asking about could he do it from a cd, and yes you can, in fact, you can even get the Disk wiper from Paragon as well.. however ultimatebootcd as well, you can do your own isert's as well and add to the build.. then remaster the cd entirely to fit you. do you even know about the forensic and auditor live cd's rubberfingers?

Alex, don't worry about the ghostimage.. that alot of companies are doing now, because people are just copying there OEMs' , and giving them away. or what not.. so they make an image of the install , and then copy it to a partition, and theres alot of software that can image a partition.. alex, don't panic. visit .. www.filetopia.com download the client 3.04, install it, once you get it installed.. go through the setup wizard, inquiry a nickname,/name you want , and it will check the database server registry, try until you get something you want.. also pick a good password, as you should with everything.. your method of connection, interest.. if you need help with port forwarding. I will help you with that as well, I suggested to users.. instead of just using tcp/ip port 443, which is commonly used for SSL, to get around the reserve ports in windows systems.. use 20443, I'll help you set that up in the client and in your router if you have 1, or software firewall, doesn't matter.. btw.. The virus is being detected as something that attacks IDC files or something and then it clones itself and makes multiple single letter exe's and then executes them, FileTopia sounds a bit more evil than what you are saying.

I've worked with some BSD systems. but .. configuring a BSD variant can be very fustrating and time consuming.. PC-BSD is a good choice to alot of people out there.. even thinkin about Trying BSD, its basically KDE on FreeBSD, and what they are using as current build.. will get you a FreeBSD system in KDE environment, in a minimum 10 mins.. or depending on your hardware and system memory etc

XP and Vista would be great, if they released a system. that was user option.. to customize the system, services, software, setup. all from baseline install, and thats why people get into hacking the services.. securing there registry.. TCP/IP filtering. in fact with open source. you have your iptables. netfilter. and more.. and to the point where you can just run the system to ram. or run off cd, but if you run to ram, minimum recommended is 1gb, and your blazin.. off cd/dvd is read only , so nothing can be written to it. at all, no data damage to your hard drives. heck in fact you can just plug an external usb key, or external hard drive in, when you want to save data, etc.. however I prefer developing with systems.. and compiling all I want compiled. hacking run levels.. init startups.. services/daemons.. being in control of my environment. my own world.. :-)

sypho: Like him, you also didn't follow the instructions posted throughout this thread. You both know the problem, it's an easy fix. You either buy a copy and enter a legit CD-Key, or you reinstall following the directions. If you've noticed, the ones that went through and didn't apply a CD-Key during install, and applied the timestopper crack in Vista are the ones who don't have the same problems as both of you.

k, so i was stupid and put in the first serial, then installed it all, and now i have vista on my computer and no more xp, but i cant get past the second time it wants the serial. is there any way i can get through this without having to reformat? i can access the internet and find my files but i have no start menu or anything. and if i do have to reformat, how do i without a disk, becuase my computer didnt come with a disk that has like ,restore factory defaults on it.

I have AMD 64 bit processor... And is runs 32bit Win XP pro... So Why not 32bit Vista...
64-bit processors can run 32bit and 64bit apps

I don't see why people are having problems with this. It was very easy to install...just don't enter a serial key...and then use a timestopper crack when vista is done.

There are lots of downloads for windows vista, and alot of them are claimed to work.
The only problem is there is not a real permanant crack for vista, even though this may sound strange the timestop crack only works when your computer is turned on, if your computer is off the timer starts ticking without you realising, trust me when i say there is not ONE permanant crack for vista released yet, but later on there will be, if you have installed this on your only computer i hope you have a backup disk of xp that works!!!
You will probably need it in 3-6 months because all the timerstop crack does is slow the time limit down!!!!!!!!!

mfs: .mdf is a CD Image that u can mount with Alcohol 120% or with Daemon Tools (I sugest version 3.47 -> it is older, but the best in comparation with other versions) and the .mds file helps Alcohol120% or Daemon Tools to recognize the .mdf file

peavers: WinRAR 3.40 can unzip ISO files, but those kind of files are created to be mounted on a virtual cd drive or to be burned on a cd/dvd :)

yea, you need to format and start again, all i can think is that the file replacement would work better, as windows would think you have a real copy, allowing you to get updates and support and so forth, may be wrong tho.

Ok guys, I have an enormous problem

So, I, like a douchebag, didn't read a single comment after checking to make sure people agreed it was real.

So I installed Ultimate with the included cd key in the readme. Now I'm at the loging screen, everything completely installed, unable to log on because the cd key included in the readme is not a valid windows vista ultimate cd key. I really really REALLY don't want to reinstall it beacuase it took me all of 4 hours, and even if I did want to, I wouldn't have the first idea of how to uninstall it.

So is there anyway to fix my mistake without reinstalling? Or is there a place I could download a keygen? Or anyone who wants to get me a key?

Right now I'm on my freind's computer, because I can't use mine.

No, census is you're pretty much **** ed. Just boot to DVD again, delete the partition you have the current Vista on, and format it, and go through the reinstall process again. You summed it up best in your first line...

Well I didn't burn vista to a disk. I was using Daemon Tools and a virtual drive. I guess I could redownload the torrent on this computer and then burn it...

I'm not laughing at you. I'm just wondering why it was you didn't take the time to read through this thread? I've already laid this out to several other people with the same problem as you. I don't mine helping (which is why i keep coming back to this thread) but i am getting tired of answer the same question over and over.

First of all, no one is going to give you a legit CD-Key. You didn't want to pay the 300 bucks, what makes you think someone else is and wants to hook you up? So get that out of your head.

Secondly, to properly install an OS, you need to boot to disc, format your current drive, and start over fresh. I wasn't even aware this file was capable of being used as an upgrade. Typically there are upgrade versions, and full versions. So kudos to you for figuring that out.

Last, it doesn't take a "tech savvy" person to do this install. All it takes is someone who can read at a third grade level. If you can read this post, you can read the others in this thread and figure out how those that have it working got to that point.

If you need specific help, i'm all for it. But being the 20th guy to make the install with the serial key just shows you didn't do your HW here. You did it wrong, plain and simple.

I'm sure i'm coming off as an ass to you, but ALL OF THIS has already been addressed in this thread already.

Well thanks Sucka. I actually wasn't talking to you in that post I gave, it was to the guy above you, but, thanks anyway. So what should I do from here? How do I uninstall or reformat or whatever, the drive so I can go back to my XP and redo it from there? As to the upgrade, it was an option, I clicked it, it worked fine. I had no idea that there were two different kinds. Thanks for your help either way though!

At this point, i believe you're locked out of your files. There's no point reinstalling XP at this point if you're planning on using Vista anyways. I'm not 100% sure, but i don't think you can roll back an upgrade installation, but don't quote me on that, i've never done an "upgrade".

I understand you going with the upgrade path, obviously people don't want to lose their programs/files, but what you need to realize, is that a clean install is always preferable. With that said, you should have/need to take the steps to back up your data. Programs can always be reinstalled, but once you do a "proper" install, everything is going to be lost. What i always suggest to people, is to create a second partition on their hard drive, and save their files/music/work/whatever to that second partition. That way if they lose their OS parition, they still have their files. That or you need to save files to a USB hard drive, flash drive, DVD, CD, whatever works for you.

At this point, i would cut your losses, download the torrent on a computer with a DVD burner, and reinstall fresh. Download the file. Burn it using the Alcohol 120% trial, go into your BIOS (ussually by hitting del or F2) and change your first boot device to CD/DVD. Once you boot to DVD and enter the setup, just follow through the instructions. You need to delete the current parition, and click to format it. At this point you can create another parition, but that's up to you (google for more info on that if you don't know what i'm talking about). Let it go through the install. DO NOT enter the serial key while installing. Once you get to windows, follow the timestopper crack that is posted all throughout this thread. This tricks the OS into thinking it always has 30 days left before it needs to be activated.

It's ALWAYS preferable to do a fresh install over an upgrade. Learn from your mistakes i guess, not much else you can do at this point. I would suggest you google to see if you can rollback to XP, caus

To those who still request visual pieces of evidence! Notice the 30-days activation period, approximately 35 hours after the installation of vista (more than one day!). It has been cracked using the time stopper mentionned earlier. Simple, fast and straightforward!

You CAN roll back your Vista installation. I tried upgrading from XP Pro, and the OS would not start. It would get to the loading splash screen, then just restart and give me the boot menu, which contained options to boot into safe mode, start windows normally, etc. I never could get Vista running, so I simply put the DVD I burned from this torrent in, booted from it, and selected repair Windows or something like that. Then it shows different Windows installations, one of them being a rollback, and I ended up choosing that. One more thing...If ever your time stopper fails to crack vista, just temporarily disable the UAC (User Accound Control) so that the crack has full access to your pc date/time. Once rebooted, enable back your UAC. You can reach your UAC settings as follows: Control Panel, User Accounts, and 'Turn User Account Control on or off'

That means you don't have the correct hardware in order for Aero to work.

You need a DirectX 9 compatible card or better to get all the glassy effects. Still looks alright, but XP might be a better match for my computer.

hj99 hi, no it will be different. the difference is that the RTM will be a lot more stable and less buggy than RC1 which is like a beta.

My HD is already divided into two parts. XP and all my other important files are installed in C: drive and there's nothing in the second drive. if i install vista in D: drive, how will i boot the pc with vista? and if i backup all the necessary files in drive C: and install them to drive D: after the installation of Vista, can i use all the programs witk Vista?
