Little Query , How do the dates work?

This torrent is 26 days old from Dec 9.
Its a verified source from a highly po **** r releaser.
So It should be fine.
But even Amazon said DVD releasing Dec 9.
So I guess actually DVD , bluray was released earlier.
Please enlighten.
Also when can we typically expect a DVDRip or release after a Movie reaches theatres?
2. Is it worth to go for 8 gb file 720p files , am viewing on a 14.1 inch laptop 1440 x 790 something
Have tried samples , they are slightly better,
but even proper 1.37GB movies from other sources seem very crisp.

audio plays at perfect speed but video is behiend about 10s.(its just moving slower)
You CAN play this on a PS3 and on certain Blu-ray players (you will have to remux the file -like re-encoding a little, not quite the same- first in order to tho) it takes about 10-15 minutes with the right software.
1080p is amazing.
But to be honest, on my 24" PC monitor (1920x1200) I can't tell the difference between 1080p and 720p at a distance of about 8-10 feet. The difference between a good quality dvd/blu-ray rip (700mb-1400mb) and a 720p rip is slightly noticeable at the same distance.
Use these on a big screen to enjoy them at their best. (a tv... 1080p)
Hope I cleared some confusion up.
oh and a lot of scene releases are out before the actual DVD/blu-ray release date.
i take it those were the IMAX scenes, but why does this rip does not contain those?
