xbrook can u verify if the the crack you named makes it work on vista? coz I have a copy that works on XP but not on vista.

I can't get the graphics to render properly even with the patch :-(.

I'm using windows vista with GeForce go 6150 and I could not get it to work. Just a black screen. I installed the game, installed the 2.0 patch. Downloaded the geforce fix from www.gamecopyworld.com and replaced the files accordingly... still the same result. Am I missing something?

oh and i fotgot!!! WONT WORK ON VISTA AT ALL there is oneeee way to make it work, but it will mess up your(ifu have it) windows AEREO so its not worth it

ok guys. i tried this, and this is why it won't work. Its not the game, the download will work perfectly, but there is a HORRIBLE catch here that i figured out.

Ok this is what happens. You download the game. You install it. You use the crack and replace mgs2 and mgs2_sse in your bin file. This is all well and good, and to a person who has an Nvidia graphics card, this is all they would do. But for ATI users, we have to use the patch. So i download the patch and use it, and i notice, that it MODIFIES THE MGS2 FILE AND MGS2_SSE FILE. So, what does this mean? It means the crack i put in the folder doesnt work anymore!

So, if i put the crack and dont use the patch, i get a black screen, but i can hear the music, which means the game works.

If i use the patch but not the crack, the game will work, but it cant because the error saying "Please put in the MGS2 CD" will pop up.

Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, we are BONED.

Or you can download an updated crack to go with the patch.

is there an updated crack? i couldnt find one. If anyone knows of any please post the links!

I don't know if anybody has the same problem as me but The game works but only to give me something green. Snake is Green and we can't really see any details i don't know what is wrong can someone help me

Okey Dokey, for people not having a clue what to do and are using vista (may work for xp just skip the run as admin part), do this

Download the game install it

now goto http://m0008.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_metal_gear_solid_2.shtml#Metal%20Gear%20Solid%202%20Game%20Updates and download version 2.0 of the patch

then goto http://m0008.gamecopyworld.com/games/pc_metal_gear_solid_2.shtml#Metal%20Gear%20Solid%202%20v1.01%20[ENGLISH]%20No-DVD/Fixed%20EXE

then click the floppy disk to download the no cd/dvd crack then extract the two exe's to your metal gear solid 2 substance folder under bin and now what you need to do it make both files run as administrator to do this right click on mgs2.exe and goto compatability then run as administrator then click ok then do the same again for mgs2_sse.exe now you can easily run the game from your desktop.

worked for me if it don't for you you're doing somthing wrong.

Here's how it works:

For Vista with black screen:
1. Download & install a software called "Creative ALchemy Universal". Run it.
2. Use Game Path.
3. Enter the path (e.g C:/Program Files/Konami/MGS2/bin). Click Ok.

For Radeon users with corrupt gfx:
1. Download & install "Ati Tray Tools".
2. In Standard Tweaks -> Choose Pixel Shader 1.0

So Okay, it works for VISTA!

Just Mount the MGS2.iso with Daemon Tools
Then use that ALchemy program... I didnt even need any of the patches..

I have a Vista with ATI, but when i try to tweak it to pixelshader 1.0 it goes black for a second, and then it goes back to pixelshader 4.0. Whhy doesn't it stay tweaked?

Put all the graphs to real low then u should still see the nano things. Sorry - All I can do is this :/

The game started to work fine at the begining but i sometimes kept getting error crashes klike the 1 saying ( mgs2_sse.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close )on windows xp ,, but ive overcomed this problem by going to the properties of the mgs2_sse.exe and changed the compatibility to windows 98 / me and those kind of errors stopped bothering me .

will work like a charm.

No need to put all graphic to low with this green screen, enuff is : Drawing - Custom, everything on high except model quality which goes one bar left from high.
