other problem could be next:
if u have only 2 partitions (assuming XP on C:/ drive and win 7 on D:/ drive) and u are trying to access somethnig while in win 7 from partition C:/ , it is most likely that u get that same access denied. i'm not 100% sure why, but it probably has something to do with "protecting" the system on that drive (in order not to f.ck something up on XP while running win 7)

I found out that my laptop just died...so there's my explanation. For future advisories, DO NOT buy a HP-pc. browsed the net and found that i wasn't the only one with a suddenly broken HP tx1000...
